According to a recent report [1] from the Migration Policy Institute, Latinos are struggling to immigrate and assimilate to U.S. culture more than other people groups such as Asians, blacks, and non-Hispanic white immigrants.

“Progress among the United States’ different immigration groups is highly uneven, however, Latinos are not faring as well,” the report states.

In general, the report finds that immigrants in the U.S. are doing reasonably well in their assimilation, however first and second generation Hispanic immigrants are more segregated as far as their neighborhood than their Asian counterparts.

The report also illustrates that socially and economically Hispanic immigrants are not assimilated as non-Hispanic white immigrants. Additionally, Hispanic immigrants who have achieved citizenship are less likely to vote than other immigrated citizens.
